| General Description:
The Peachtree Creek Bridge located on SR 3/Northside Drive in Atlanta was built in 1926 and serves as a connector for north-south travel in north Atlanta. The bridge is located in a community with many historic resources including the Atlanta Memorial Park, Woodfield Historic District, Spring Lake Historic District, Haynes Manor Historic District, and the historic Bobby Jones Golf Course. SR 3/Northside Drive is abutted by historic homes, schools and religious institutions, and it is a heavily traveled corridor serving residents, commuters, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit. The new bridge will need to accommodate high
vehicular, pedestrian and bike traffic. The proposed bridge section consists of three lanes, a shoulder, a bike lane and a sidewalk on the western side, and a shoulder and a multi-use path on the eastern side of the bridge. These paths will connect the existing paths at Atlanta Memorial Park, Haynes Manor Park and the proposed multi-use path along Bobby Jones Golf Course. The design and posted speed is 35 mph, and the total length of the project will be 0.17 miles.
